This is the ongoing story of Madrid Fashion week banning models with a BMI (Body Mass Index) of under 18 from taking part in catwalk shows and a British minister calling for the same thing to happen in London Fashion Week. This may appear to be a fashion issue, but it is important throughout media too. It seems unfair that these women should be rejected from their chosen profession when they worked so hard to get to a weight that has previously been desirable in the fashion industry.
If these models can be banned from the fashion shows then this ban should encompass the whole of the media. This includes magazines and newspapers, otherwise it's pointless to reject these images in one area when they are still promoted throughout the fashion industry. It also isn't fair on the models, they risk their health to be thin enough, and now it's no longer acceptable. I know the fashion industry is fickle, but you can't change your weight as often as you change your handbag.
